PTO MEETING: 5 P.M., GRAHAM LUNCHROOM

Please make plans to attend our PTO meeting today at 5 p.m. in the Graham lunchroom. There will be a brief PTO meeting followed by a singing program highlighting our 2nd and 3rd graders. Student artwork will be on display outside classrooms and art show winners will be announced following the singing program. We look forward to seeing you!

Graham Honor Society & Student Council at the Christmas Parade

The temperatures were cold but our hearts were warm with the Christmas spirit. The Graham Honor Society & Student Council members waved at spectators, screamed "Merry Christmas", and tossed candy during the Talladega Christmas Parade last night. We would like to thank First National Bank for allowing us the opportunity to ride on their float.

The Talladega Christmas Parade begins this evening at 6 p.m. Graham Elementary Student Council and National Honor Roll Society members should meet at the agreed location by 5:30 p.m.

Remembering Reagan.....

On Tuesday, December 4, 2013, the students, faculty, and staff of Graham Elementary remembered Reagan by releasing pink balloons in her memory. Reagan was a 6th grade student at Graham Elementary that we lost to a battle with cancer. Reagan fought cancer with grace and strength and we were all better for knowing her. We will always love, remember, and miss Reagan.

Our Graham students raised $192.65 for the Alabama Crimson Tide and $71.02 for the Auburn Tigers. The Graham Student Council will donate this money to Toys for Tots to help buy holiday gifts for local children in need.

Next week, November 18th- November 22th is the last week for the Student Council Penny Drop. No more money will be accepted after 9 a.m. on Friday, 11/22. This money will be donated to Toys for Tots.

• The Alabama Education Association believes reading is a child's key to success in school an life. That's why AEA is emphasizing reading through its Be a Champion reader contest. Entering your child is simple! Have your child read six books on their reading level to qualify as a "Champion Reader". Complete the book list and return to Mrs. Peters in the library. Mrs. Peters will drop an entry card in the mail to qualify your child for the drawing to win Alabama vs. Auburn tickets!!
• School Wide T-Shirts
• PTO is selling t-shirts for $10.00 so that students will have shirts to wear on field trips, field day, and any other special events. The profits from this shirt sale will help PTO provide more services to our children.
• PTO Membership Drive
• Each family can join PTO for $5.00!! The money raised from the membership drive will also help provide more services to our teachers and students. The homeroom class that has 100% participation will receive a PIZZA party!!

Episcopal Day School Visits Graham Library!!

 

Episcopal Day School visited Graham's Library today for a Reading of Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons! 

PTO Open House: Thursday, Oct. 3rd, 6 p.m.

Join us in the GES lunchroom for Open House on Thursday, October 3rd at 6 p.m. Come early (5:00) to visit the book fair and during the PTO meeting our newest student council members will be inducted.  We hope to see you there!

Graham Celebrates International Dot Day Monday! Make Your Mark!

Student Council campaigning is next week!

Campaigning for student council positions will be next week. Bring "sticky tack" to hang posters in hallways. Signs should be no larger that 1/4 of a sheet of poster board. (No gifts/treats may be given to earn votes.) Candidates should remove posters on Friday, September 13th. Winners will be announced on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

International Dot Day

"The Dot more than anything celebrates the power of creative teaching," explains Peter H. Reynolds. The Dot tells the story of a caring teacher who reaches a reluctant student in a remarkable creative way. We hope that we can encourage our students to be creative through many different activities on Dot Day!

Cookie Social (orientation) will be on Thursday, August 15th, 12:30-2:30 p.m. Please bring your child's supplies in a backpack, bag, or box labeled with his/her name. 
Monday, August 19th, is the first day of school!!

Awards Day

Awards Day is  today, Wednesday, May 22nd. Grades 1st-5th awards willl be presented beginning at 9 a.m. There will be no check-out until after all awards have been presented per Mrs. Dyer.

Field Day is Thursday, May 16th

Thursday, May 16th, is Field Day!! If you haven't brought your $10 fee for Field Day, please do so by Thursday. Remember: Only parents who have volunteered ahead of time are allowed to attend. No SIBLINGS or extra family members are allowed to attend this event per Mrs. Dyer.

Wheelie Day

Wheelie Day was a BIG success for students at Graham Elementary today! Mrs. Dyer even enjoyed a quick ride through the office!!

Students who made the honor roll for the fourth six weeks were allowed to bring their wheels to enjoy a fun day at the stadium!!
