Missoula Children's Theater Workshop for 3rd grade



Missoula Children's Theater workshop visited Graham's third graders to show them how to use their creativity and imagination while illustrating concepts from other content areas through the use of dramatization. Jessie is above applying this skill. We appreciate Missoula bringing this annual event to our third grade students.

Graham's First Annual Achievement Assembly

Students were honored for their achievements throughout the first six weeks of school. Awards were given for perfect attendance, A Honor Roll, A-B Honor Roll, Student of the Month, Accelerated Reader Awards, and Be A Champion Read. Graham plans to celebrate these achievements each six weeks. Honor roll students will also be treated to a field trip or special reward.

Illustrator Visit

Michael P. White Visits Graham Elementary



 Michael was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his Associate of Arts degree from The Art Institute of Atlanta. He has illustrated three children's books: The Library Dragon (winner of the 1997 Flicker Tale Children's Book Award, an Honor Book for the 1997-1998 Florida Reading Association Children's Book Award), The Secret of Old Zeb (winner of an Award of Merit from the Southeastern Library Association) with Carmen Agra Deedy, and Harriett's Horrible Hair Day with Dawn Lesley Stewart. He just finished the sequel to The Library Dragon, Return of the Library Dragon

In celebration of Black History Month in February, 4th grade students created bottle biographies to depict the lives of African-Americans that have made some positive contribution to society. Each class voted for the best bottle biography and those students are pictured above with their winning bottle and other examples.

Graham's Valentine's Day Sock Hop will be February 14th. Admission is $2.00 per student to help cover the cost of snacks (pizza, snack cake, drink). The dress is casual. They will be music and a DJ. The $2 is due by Monday, February 13th.

The Graham Book Fair will open tonight at 5:30 p.m. followed by a PTO meeting at 6 p.m. Items range in price from $.025 to $20. The book fair will open daily from 8:30-3 p.m.

Each year Six Flags offers a free ticket to students in K-6th grade that complete six hours of reading. Students can read books, magazines, newspapers, or comic books. The reading logs went home before Christmas and are due back by January 31, 2012. This is a fun way to earn a fun day at Six Flags! So,
